When I was a young photographer I use to take scenic pictures with a Polaroid SX-70 Camera and while the print was still fresh I took a stylus and smeared the ink emulsion around to get a painterly effect.

I've posted a few here:

So you see, I've been smudging prints long before photography became digital.
It was a sad day when Polaroid stopped making that film.

Can be accomplished also with Liquify in Photoshop --- LOT OF FUN ---- Oh yea----------------->
